Miyavi Concert

Thursday, March 17, 2011

Hi,
Today I'm going to see Miyavi perform. I'm very surprised he came to Portugal, we don't get many japanese artists coming to our small humble country. I'm excited, I'm sure I'll see lots of people there, including people I know and haven't seen in a while.

(this was taken in my friend's+boyfriend room by the way xD)

I'm going with a friend of mine and her boyfriend, and I'll also meet with a friend of mine there :) I hope it'll be fun, I need some distraction from these last few days, it seems now everyday is a struggle for me, I really haven't felt so well since Saturday..
This is one of those times when I hate those feminine hormones and how they unbalance your head. I want to be able to be myself, fragile and with crazy mood swings but I'm not able to. I just wish someone would be compassionate and supportive whenever I'm like this...

But enough of that, I'm  really looking forward for tonight! I haven't slept much but I'll just drink some coffee and get on with the show, since I'm working now I'll go straight to the place after work, meeting my friends along the way. And tomorrow is another work day so I guess it'll be hardcore xD Well, not as hardcore as it was last summer with 3 days straight of sum mer festival,  going home to work to the festival to home to work to festival.. It was hell ;_;

Here is a video of him playing for a bit, he's just amazing like that <3

I hope I can take some nice pictures tonight

Dinosaurs from Lourinhã + Dad's Bday

Monday, March 14, 2011

In a previous weekend, more specifically the 26th of February, my boyfriend came to town and we left early to take a nice walk through town and go see the free exhibition about Lourinhã's Dinosaurs.

It was a Saturday and he accompanied me to work (I worked from 10a.m. to 1p.m.) and then we went to lunch! We decided to try out a vegetarian restaurant I discovered near my work place and it was very enjoyable!

We ate the day's special, which was Rigattoni (I think) with Portobello Mushrooms and it was super delicious!! I love pasta and I love dishes with either mushrooms or cheese, lots of cheese!

And then for dessert I chose a wild-berries cheesecake (which was AWESOME!!) and my darling chose a chocolate roll (salame) with chestnuts and fig! At first I was really afraid of how all those flavours would blend in but after I tasted his dessert I got swept away! And I don't even like chestnuts! It was really good indeed.

(They're half-eaten because I only remembered to record the yumminess later..).
Well after that we took the subway to Rato and we walked slowly enjoying the day. It was a beautiful sunny day but the wind was strong..

So we took a walk in the park and we managed our way to the museum. After my feet turned into porridge and after we sat a bit at the museum stairs to rest, we headed down to the little room where the Lourinhã's Dinosaurs were being shown.

Lourinhã is considered the Portuguese Dinosaur capitol as they've discovered lots of well preserved footprints, eggs, and even a carnivorous species of dinosaur was found there and named after the place, it's called Lourinhanosaurus antunesi:

The exhibit was very small and we had to walk a looooooong way in this up-and-down city of Lisbon to get there, but it was very cute and even if it was just a small room with a few fossils I felt happy!
So before and after the Exhibit we stopped on our way at the Jardim do Príncipe Real (Royal Prince Park), which is nothing more than a little park with big trees, a small fountain and a lot of people ;P
The place was crowded and there was some sort of handmade/antique market, where people from all around  were selling handmade goodies, from felt purses to porcelain, ceramics, old watches, antiques, homemade jam and liquor and even old books. I actually found a stall where they were selling sweets jewelry made out of polymer clay!! It was pretty cool, pity it was very windy that day...

We ended up buying my dad a homemade liquor from a very cute stall as a birthday gift, where the lady was very nice to us and very curious about what I was wearing, she even gave us a free sample of her liquor to taste, and it was very tasty! Even though I don't really like alcoholic beverages I enjoyed the liquor as it was very soft.

I'm sorry I don't have any good pictures of that day.. I brought my camera but forgot to charge the battery so the battery was fairly dead when we wanted to take some pictures... anyways, here is a picture of my dearest Mary Magdalene dress and my coordinate for strolling around!

I'm sorry I look so tired.. I hadn't been sleeping a lot those days and I remember I was super sleepy that day because I had only slept a few hours. At night, at my grandma's house where the birthday dinner for my father was (with uncles and cousins), I was pushing myself real hard to stay awake, I could barely keep my eyes open.

And that's it for today. I wanted to update more often and in a more timely manner but I've been so busy... I still have that photo challenge pictures to post and some other daily-casual stuff I decide to wear and be all crazy like :P

Kisses, thank you for spending your time reading!

Earthquake in Japan

Friday, March 11, 2011

Today Japan was stroke by an Earthquake, the 5th most powerful one recorded since 1900. It was an 8,9 in Richter Scale, and it caused a lot of damage and the rising of a tsunami.

This blog is mainly about my life, fashion, cute things, Asian stuff.. but I thought this was important to write about, as I feel deeply for those who have lost their lives, family members, homes in this Natural Catastrophe.

You certainly have heard of it, it's all over the news, this occured at 2:46PM in the sea near Sendai.

There are countless people missing, lots of wounded and a lot of homeless people... Police said that there are at least 300 confirmed deaths. This was one of the most powerful earthquakes Japan felt since 300 years ago. The experts say that the tsunami will be able to reach Chile in less than a day. It already reached Hawaii but the waves were only 2meters high, in Japan they were 10meters high.

This is Sendai.
The North of Japan was the region that suffered more from the Earthquake and the Tsunami.

Buildings were destroyed, there was an atomic power emergency state as one of the cooling systems from and Atomic Power Plant was not working, there were various gas leaks and many factories on fire.

I'm seriously concerned about all the people that are suffering right now, and worried if any more countries will be alright when the Tsunami hits. I always get deeply moved by these Natural Disasters, it makes me wonder about life and how fragile it is, it makes me think about my safety and my home and what I have now in my life, and that of which I should be thankful for. It makes me want to go catch a plane and help all those people suffering, but I'm just unable to do anything...

I'll leave here some videos of the Earthquake and the Tsunami.

How do you feel when something like this happens in other part of the world? Do you feel small like me? Do you feel useless?

JUST EDITED!! from BBC:

17:03H: The death toll from the earthquake and tsunami is expected to exceed 1,000, Kyodo adds.
17:06H: The Tokyo Electric Power Company has said the pressure inside the No. 1 reactor at its Fukushima-Daiichi nuclear plant has been rising, with the risk of a radiation leak, according to the Jiji Press news agency. Tepco planned to take measures to release the pressure, the report added. The reactor's cooling system began to malfunction after the earthquake. People living close to the plant were later evacuated as a precaution.
17:08H: Nuclear physicist Dr Walt Patterson tells the BBC it sounds like there is a "serious problem" at the Fukushima-Daiichi plant. "It's the sort of thing that nuclear engineers have nightmares about," he says. "If it is not resolved in the next few hours it will get serious. If the core is uncovered, then those rods at the top may get hot enough to melt themselves."

Please be safe people of Japan :(
